John Seely Brown and I have been thinking a lot about this over the past several years. the bigger picture to which he has patiently introduced me in the potential to invent new ways to work by effectively leveraging tools. Neither he nor I believe that LLMs are the be-all -end-all, but building blocks that, in combination, allow us to do what we've been doing but in new ways and, in so doing, unlock potential to do new things in new ways... including inventing new ways to work together.
AI as an amplifier provides far more potential than simple robotic automation, and we're exploring that. Of course, it includes the copilot-like amplifiers, but it also includes imagining and creating "from scratch", which really isn't as risky as it sounds any more when you consider the power of the frameworks and services we can leverage into technology and organizational architectures.
