Agree.

They're hard to sort/learn... "code is documentation", while true technically, isn't a lot of help especially when working with a monolith. And the "split out common services" rationale makes sense but doesn't address the snarl that has formed over time and is the crux of tech debt. There must be intentional maintenance and attention to couplings and more.
